Making Democracy Community Preview Unit
The Stolen Generations · Learning Opportunities Your students will learn about the Stolen Generations as they consider how it would feel to be removed from their family.
Working Towards Equality · Learning Opportunities Your students will learn how Australia has changed as they create a timeline of milestones in Australian democracy.
Pretest · Pretesting and Familiarisation Your students will complete a pretest about Australian democracy, government, law, and citizenship.
A Common Goal: Making a Democracy · Demonstration of Understanding Your students will form political parties and they will work in these groups to develop an argument to convince the rest of the class about their idea.
A Common Goal: Debating the Issues · Demonstration of Understanding Your students will conduct a vote to decide which issue they will work together to raise awareness of.
